With the release of so many versions of Windows 7, knowing the exact way to upgrade your computer is a little tricky. If you have Windows XP, you can’t “upgrade” in the traditional sense, but have to perform a clean install.
This post will cover how to delete an OEM Partition. OEM partitions can be made by Dell or Lenovo. If you use the GUI Disk Management tools you’ll notice you can’t delete the OEM Partition. In order to delete the OEM partition you are going to need to use a command line tool called Diskpart.
So if you are upgrading your current OS to Windows 7, you might run into a slight problem. That problem is the fact that you won’t be able to get past 62% sometimes! Not fun!
This happens because the Iphlpsvc service stops responding during the upgrade. However, it can also be caused by other Windows services failing. So how do you get past this point in the upgrade?
