Selling my Dlink DNS-323 Network Attached Storage device….

The device is in perfect shape and is very reliable. The only reason why the uptime wasn’t longer was due to a power outage in my neighbourhood.

There is two 1TB drives which would give most families more than enough room to backup their home pictures.

Selling this for $150.00. $200 if you need it setup in your home.

How to make Windows 8 tile icons

image

Here’s an example of a tile I created for Photoshop CS6 64bit on Windows 8. In my opinion the tile look much better full size than just a tiny icon with some text inside a box. In order to make these kind of tiles for Adobe CS6 suite on Windows we will first need a image editing program and “OblyTile”.

At the end of this post I will be including the icons I created for Adobe Cs6! Each tile is done almost identically. For 64bit versions of the app I am going to have the numbers “64” at the bottom right side of the icon so I know what I am opening up.

  1. The first thing you will want to do is for each app you will need to open the folder of each application.
  2. Holding down “CTRL+Scroll wheel” make all icons as large as it will go.
  3. Take a screenshot and paste it into your favourite image editor
  4. Using the rectangle Marquee tool select the icon and copy it.
  5. Create a new file and make the dimensions 150×150
  6. Save the file as a png file type
  7. Resize the image to 30×30
  8. Save the file as a png file and rename it to program_Name_30x30.png
  9. Open up OblyTile. Fill it out like the screenshot bellow:

Click “create Tile” button and Voila… You have now created you own Windows 8 tile icon.

Decode Footer.php file in TheCorporation WordPress Theme

I hate people that encode themes. It is bad business and sometimes there can be back doors or vulnerabilities associated with those kinds of files. When companies do this kind of stuff I really don’t recommend using their products… EVER!

To give back to the WordPress community I figured I would un-encode the footer.php file located in TheCorporation WordPress theme made by: “Elegant Themes”.

Click here to download a file called: footer.txt

Copy this file to your webserver. Delete the original footer.php file and rename the footer.txt file to footer.php. I’ve left completely viewable links to Eleagant Themes in the new footer file. If you really don’t want them in there just go in with your favorite HTML code editor and remove them.

If you do end up using this theme please buy it from Elegant themes.

Dell U2711 Review

image

My new Dell U2711 is the priciest monitor I’ve ever owned. As one would expect from it’s price tag it is by far is the best looking and color accurate monitor you can buy. The Dell U2711 Monitor delivers stunning detail, depth, responsiveness and amazing color accuracy.

Here are some of it specs:

  • 27″ Display and 2560 x 1440 (max) WQHD Resolution
  • 16:9 Widescreen Aspect Ratio: Delivers an incredible high-definition experience.
  • 6-Millisecond Response Time (typical) Grey to Grey: Fast response helps reduce ghosting and takes the blur out of fast-moving multi-media images.
  • 80,000: 1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio (Max): Able to produce deep blacks, razor-sharp graphics and text, brilliant color.
  • In-Plane Switching technology (IPS): Allows for superb color consistency.
  • State-of-the-Art Color Depth: 12-bit internal processing (Most panels are 8bit)
  • Factory-tuned Adobe RGB and sRGB modes – minimize the need for further color calibration.
  • 100% sRGB and 96% AdobeRGB
  • Flexible Viewing & Mounting Options
  • Zero Bright Pixels
  • IT Remote Management via Dell Client Manager software
  • 3-year limited hardware warranty and 3 years of Dell’s Advanced Exchange Service

While this monitor is worth every penny if you want to get it on the cheap you should look at Dell’s “Days of deals” sale. You can get $250-$350 if you are able to wait it out like I did.
