Today I found out that you actually have 3 facebook passwords! I found out about the passwords because when I logged into Facebook I left my caps lock key on. I thought that was strange so I opened a different browser and tried logging in again. Same thing. Even though I had my caps lock on I was still logged in.
My innitial thought that I was on a website that was pretending to be facebook to get my login credentials. Right away I did some research and I found Z-Net atricle that explains what was happening.
Facebook actually accepts three forms of your password:
- Your original password.
- Your original password with the first letter capitalized. This is only for mobile devices, which sometimes capitalize the first character of a word.
- Your original password with the case reversed, for those with a caps lock key on.
The article went on to explain that there are some safety checks that happen AFTER entering your password and Facebook doesn’t feel that it is a safety concern.
Here’s a link to the article that had a very similar experience to what I found.
