This post will cover how to change the storage quota for a single users in Exchange 2007. If you want to learn how to configure the storage quota for all users in Exchange 2007 check out my previous post.
To Configure the storage Quota for a single user in Exchange 2007 you must do the following:
1.) Open “Exchange Management Console”
2.) Click on “Recipient Configuration” and then “Mailbox”. Right click the individual user that you want to change the mailbox quota for and then select properties.
3.) A new window will open. Click on “Mailbox Settings Tab”, then click on Storage Quotas. There should be a “properties…” button above. Click on that.
4.) A new window will open. Uncheck “Use Mailbox database defaults”. You can change the settings to what ever you want. ** NOTE ** the size is in KB.
Once you uncheck the “Use Mailbox database defaults” you however override the global settings.
[...] If you want to override the default settings for an exchange user set forth by the server you might want to check out the post “How to configure the storage Quota for a single user in Exchange 2007” [...]
Once you have set single users to a specific storage quota (years ago) and now you want them all to go back to the default storage quota set for all users but now you can’t remember all the users you set for specific quotas. Is there a way to pull a list of all users that are set to specific single user quotas?
I don’t know off the top of my head. I am assuming that if you use go to “Recipient Configuration” and use filtering you might be able to filter based on certain credentials like quotas? I’ve always made a group I add users to that I change the default permissions to. I know this doesn’t help you right now but it might help you in the future. If the filter doesn’t help you I can almost assure you that there has to be “Powershell” script that can be made that would not only be able to find those people but change them back to the default settings.
I am super busy right now but I will try over the next few weeks in a test environment to try this.
