How to install and use Starcraft without a CD

I just came across this because I am anctiously awaiting the Starcradt 2 release šŸ™‚ When I was signing up for the Beta I noticed you could add some of your old Blizzard games to your profile. I added my Starcraft CD-Key to the system. It allows you to then download and install the game without a CD!

First you have to log into Battlenet. If you don’t have an account you should go and create one.

Battlenet Login Page

Enter your info:

If you haven’t already registered you Starcraft game you must make sure to add it to the list of games.

Once the game is added to your profile you should see something like this:

Click the ā€œManage Gameā€ button. On the next screen you will be shown your ā€œStar Craft Game Keyā€ and two links. Windows and Mac Links.

Once you download the game go to where you told battlenet to save the files to:

You need to double click ā€œInstallerā€. The game will still ask you for the serial number. You can get that from your original CD case or you can just copy and paste the Game key from the website.

Voila. The games should be installed. You didn’t need the CD to install Starcraft and you don’t need the CD to run the game either šŸ˜‰
