Two things that cause jQuery jerky animations

There are a couple of things that I have found to cause jerky animations.

  1. Height and width not set. This really seems to slow things down in all the browsers.
  2. Margin set on element above the element that is sliding open/shut.

Always keeps these things in mind and you should always experience super slick jQuery animation. Don’t you just hate jerky jQuery animations?

Here’s an example to try (I am using jQuery and jQuery UI:

If you remove the height and width from the “p” tag then the animation will be really sluggish/jerky.
